Mackenzi Ferreira
Board Member
Mackenzie was born and raised in the small beach town of Westerly, RI surrounded by a large and very diverse but close-knit family. Little did she know, this diverse family dynamic would be the driving force behind Mackenzie’s extensive activism work. Mackenzie received an athletic scholarship and attended the University of New Hampshire where she double majored in English Journalism and Women’s Studies. While earning her degrees, Mackenzie led several clothing and food drives and protests geared toward the empowerment of all women. Since graduating university in 2011, Mackenzie has moved to Harlem, New York where she has built an impressive career in hospitality, while still focusing on community care. During the height of the NYC’s activist movement after the death of George Floyd, Mackenzie was able to raise incredible funds, create clothing drives, aid in the creation of several community fridges, set up and assist at “free stores”, set up funding for a Juneteenth Jubilee, hand out countless hydration and snacks to protestors, create an assault resource for protestors, and so much more. As a board member of Africa Everything, Mackenzie looks forward to being able to bring her passion for community building to an even larger scale.
