Kara Olidge

Kara Tucina Olidge is the associate director of Collections and Discovery at the Getty Research Institute, where her program portfolio includes the conservation, curatorial, Getty institutional records and archives, special collections, and the most extensive visual culture library in the United States. Dr. Olidge is the former executive director of the Amistad Research Center at Tulane University, the nation's oldest, largest, and most comprehensive independent archive specializing in the history of African Americans and other ethnic communities. Her leadership at Amistad culminated in the center receiving the 2022 IMLS national award for museum and library service. She serves on the board of SouthArts and is the founding director of the Louisiana Charles Deslondes Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, Inc. (ASALH, Inc.).
